Kaohsiung Film Festival in Kaohsiung
Kaohsiung Film Festival is an annual film showcase organized in Taiwan's second-largest city, presenting a curated program of international and Taiwanese independent, art-house, and genre cinema outside the Taipei-centered festival circuit that otherwise dominates Taiwan's film calendar; it is recognized as one of Taiwan's established film festivals alongside Taipei Film Festival and the Golden Horse Awards.
For most of Taiwan's postwar film history, exhibition and industry infrastructure concentrated heavily in Taipei, where the national film archive, major distributors, and the island's best-known festivals, including the Golden Horse Awards and Taipei Film Festival, are based.
