A nationwide winter tourism campaign coordinated by Taiwan's Tourism Bureau, running roughly November through February across the island's major hot spring towns, from Beitou and Jiaoxi in the north to Guanziling and Sichongxi further south, pairing hot spring soaking promotions with regional cuisine events to boost off-season domestic tourism.
Taiwan's hot spring industry owes much of its formal development to the Japanese colonial period, when administrators identified the island's volcanic and mineral spring resources and built some of its earliest dedicated bathhouses at sites including Beitou, near Taipei, and Guanziling, in the south, establishing bathing traditions that persisted and expanded through the postwar decades.
