Held every February at the Maji Maji Museum in Songea, capital of Tanzania's Ruvuma Region, the Maji Maji Memorial Week (Majimaji Heroes Commemoration) marks the 1905-1907 Maji Maji Rebellion against German colonial rule. The 2026 edition marked the uprising's 120th anniversary, drawing Vice-President Emmanuel Nchimbi as guest of honor alongside Ngoni chiefs from Tanzania, Malawi and South Africa.
