Salak Yom Festival in Lamphun centers on families building bamboo gift trees, decorated with household goods, food, garments, and handmade items. A ka-long poem telling the tree owner's life story is composed and chanted by several readers, and lots are then cast to decide which monk or novice receives each tree as an offering.
