Pattaya Wan Lai / Songkran in Pattaya
Pattaya's Songkran, known locally as Wan Lai, is Thailand's longest-running edition of the water festival, held each mid-April and extending several days beyond the national holiday. Along Beach Road and central Pattaya, the celebration folds in beauty pageants, live music, cultural performances, fireworks and water sports competitions on top of the standard citywide water fight.
Pattaya's Songkran carries a different rhythm from the rest of Thailand, shaped by the city's history as a resort built for tourism rather than an old royal or temple center.
