Sakon Nakhon Wax Castle Festival in Sakon Nakhon
Sakon Nakhon marks the end of Buddhist Lent with the Prasat Pueng Procession, known in English as the Wax Castle Festival. Temple communities sculpt tall castles from beeswax, then parade them through the city to Wat Phra That Choeng Chum in a nighttime show of candlelight and craftsmanship.
Every October, as the three-month Buddhist Lent draws to a close, the city of Sakon Nakhon channels an entire community's craftsmanship into wax.
