Phra That Phanom Worship Festival in That Phanom
The annual worship festival at Wat Phra That Phanom, a revered Lao-style stupa on the Mekong in Nakhon Phanom province, draws Buddhist pilgrims from both Thailand and Laos. Held over about nine days around the third lunar month, usually February, it centers on candlelit processions circling the ancient stupa.
Wat Phra That Phanom sits on the banks of the Mekong River in Nakhon Phanom province, its distinctive white-and-gold stupa rising above the surrounding Isan countryside as one of the most recognized Buddhist landmarks in northeastern Thailand.
