La Divina Pastora Siparia Fete in Siparia
Siparia, in south Trinidad, hosts two related annual celebrations honouring the same shrine: the Catholic feast of La Divina Pastora, held some weeks after Easter, and the separate Hindu Siparia Fete, held on Maundy Thursday and Good Friday, both centred on a Black Virgin statue known to Hindus as Siparee Mai.
Siparia, an old Amerindian settlement in south Trinidad later known as the Sand City, grew into the administrative centre of Saint Patrick County and, by 2023, a borough in its own right.
