Festival de la Medina de Kairouan in Kairouan Medina

The Festival de la Medina de Kairouan, also called Les Nuits de la Medina, fills the UNESCO-listed old town of Kairouan with theatre, music, and circus performances for roughly two weeks each spring. Staged across the cultural complex, public squares, and beneath the Great Mosque of Uqba, the tenth edition in March 2026 paired stage drama with a light projection washing over the mosque's minaret.

Kairouan's medina does not need decoration to feel theatrical.
