The story

Festival International de Nabeul in Nabeul

The Festival International de Nabeul is an annual summer arts festival at the Mounsef Kort open-air theater in the pottery-making coastal town of Nabeul, distinct from both the larger, older Hammamet International Festival in the same governorate and from Nabeul's separate orange-blossom folklore festival. Dating to the late 1980s and reaching a 38th edition in 2026, it mixes major Tunisian singers with younger pop and rap acts.

Nabeul has been Tunisia's best-known center of ceramic and pottery production for generations, its workshops lining the roads into town and supplying decorative tile and tableware sold across the country.

What is special

The part that makes it specific.

01

The place changes

Nabeul's festival is easy to confuse with its more famous neighbor, the Hammamet International Festival, founded in 1964 and staged in Hammamet's Roman-era amphitheater, but the two are distinct events in different towns within the same governorate: Nabeul's own festival, roughly two decades younger, runs instead at the municipal Mounsef Kort open-air theater

02

The mystery stays covered

Its 2025 edition, themed Naichou el-fen, or We live art, ran sixteen shows blending music and theater, and its 2026 lineup paired established names like Saber Rebai and Lotfi Bouchnak with younger artists including Bam Bino, Mortadha, Stou, Kaso and Psy, spanning classical Tunisian song through to rap, a generational range that signals an explicit effort to draw younger local audiences alongside the festival's traditional base
