Festival International de Tataouine in Tataouine
The Festival International d'Ete de Tataouine, commonly referred to in press as the Festival International de Tataouine, is a summer arts festival distinct from the region's heritage-focused Festival International des Ksour Sahariens. Dating to the early 1990s and reaching a 34th edition in 2026, it runs mid-July to early August with music, theater, children's programming, open-air film screenings and visual-art exhibitions.
Tataouine sits in Tunisia's far south, a region whose name has become globally recognizable mainly through its resemblance to a fictional desert planet from a well-known film franchise, but whose real cultural life runs on its own separate calendar.
