The story

Gaziantep Culture Road Festival in Gaziantep

The Gaziantep Culture Road Festival runs under the local name GastroAntep, the Uluslararasi Gastronomi Festivali, International Gastronomy Festival, folded into the Ministry of Culture and Tourism's Turkiye Kultur Yolu Festivali. It celebrates a city recognized by UNESCO as a Creative City of Gastronomy and famous nationally for baklava.

Gaziantep did not need the Ministry of Culture and Tourism's national festival program to have a food identity: the city was recognized by UNESCO as a Creative City of Gastronomy back in 2015, one of the first cities in Turkey to receive that designation, on the strength of a cuisine built around baklava, kebabs, mezze and copper cookware traditions passed down through generations of Gaziantep kitchens.

What is special

The part that makes it specific.

01

The place changes

This is not a newly invented city festival: GastroAntep began as the Gaziantep Metropolitan Municipality's own International Gastronomy Festival, organized with the Gaziantep Development Foundation, and was later included among the cities on the Ministry's national Turkiye Kultur Yolu Festivali calendar, historically running in mid-to-late September

02

The mystery stays covered

Gaziantep earned UNESCO Creative City of Gastronomy status in 2015, and the city's baklava, made with Antep fistigi, Gaziantep pistachios grown in the surrounding orchards, carries protected geographical status and international renown
