Bayimba International Festival of the Arts in Kampala/Lunkulu Island
Bayimba International Festival of the Arts is Uganda's flagship multidisciplinary arts festival, founded in 2008 by the Bayimba Cultural Foundation, held on Lunkulu Island in Lake Victoria, which the foundation purchased in 2017. The 2025 edition was formally cancelled, but organizers have confirmed the 18th edition will proceed August 28 to 30, 2026.
Bayimba International Festival of the Arts has grown, since its founding in 2008, into what the international world-music organization WOMEX calls Uganda's number one festival, and its story is inseparable from the ambitions of the Bayimba Cultural Foundation that created it.
