Imbalu Cultural Festival in Mbale/Mutoto
Imbalu is the public circumcision ceremony of the Bamasaba (Bagisu) people, held every even year in August at the Mutoto cultural grounds near Mbale in eastern Uganda. Marking the initiation of teenage boys into manhood, it combines the rite itself with weeks of communal dancing, drumming, and celebration, and is recognized as a form of intangible cultural heritage.
