Tarasova Hora Biker Festival in Cherkasy
Tarasova Hora is Ukraine's largest motorcycle festival and one of the biggest in Europe, held annually since 2002 over the first weekend of June on the banks of the Dnipro near Kaniv in Cherkasy region, drawing more than 8,000 bikers over four days of camping, riding, and live music on the riverbank.
In May 2002, a biker who went by the nickname Ashot Salvador Grushanov gathered a group of motorcyclist friends in the town of Kaniv, on the Dnipro River, timing the meetup to coincide with the city's annual Shevchenko Days, the commemorations around the grave of Ukraine's national poet, Taras Shevchenko, who is buried on a hill above the river known as Tarasova Hora, Taras's Hill.
