Melpomene of Tavria in Kherson/Ukraine editions

Melpomene of Tavria is an international theatre festival that has gathered companies at the Mykola Kulish Kherson Regional Academic Music and Drama Theatre in mid-June since 1999. Launched as a musical-premieres showcase, it grew into a juried event drawing troupes from across Ukraine and abroad, anchored by a street theatre carnival procession through the city center.

Melpomene of Tavria began in June 1999 as the First All-Ukrainian Festival of Musical Premieres, staged jointly on the stages of the Kherson and Mykolaiv theatres with support from the Tavriyski Ihry organization and businessman Mykola Bahraiev.
