Hutsul Festival in Kosiv/Verkhovyna/Yaremche
The International Hutsul Festival is a folklore-ethnographic festival held annually since 1991 in a rotating host town of the Hutsul region, historically including Verkhovyna, Kosiv, and Yaremche in Ivano-Frankivsk oblast among many other towns across the wider Hutsul cultural area spanning three Carpathian oblasts of western Ukraine.
In 1991, as Ukraine moved toward independence, the town of Verkhovyna in Ivano-Frankivsk oblast hosted the first International Hutsul Festival, an ethnographic and folklore gathering built around the culture of the Hutsuls, the highlander people of the Carpathian region straddling what are now Ivano-Frankivsk, Chernivtsi, and Zakarpattia oblasts.
