The story

Atlas Festival in Kyiv

Atlas Festival is Kyiv's largest multi-genre music and arts festival, launched in 2015 as Atlas Weekend by promoter Dmytro Sydorenko and rebranded in 2022. Held each July, it brings together Ukrainian and international rock, indie, hip-hop, and electronic acts across multiple stages. Once drawing crowds above half a million before the full-scale invasion, the festival now runs at a wartime scale, doubling as a fundraising platform for Ukraine's air-defense units.

Atlas Festival traces back to July 2015, when Kyiv promoter Dmytro Sydorenko staged a two-day gathering called Atlas Weekend at the Art-Factory Platforma, pulling in roughly 20,000 people to watch 30 Ukrainian bands including Boombox, ONUKA, and Jamala.

What is special

The part that makes it specific.

01

The place changes

What sets Atlas apart is its scale and its adaptability: it began as a two-day showcase for 30 Ukrainian acts at Platforma Art Factory and grew, by 2018, into an eight-stage, five-day event drawing more than half a million people, with headliners like the Chemical Brothers, Placebo, and Martin Garrix

02

The mystery stays covered

Since 2022 the festival has become a wartime institution as much as a music event, moving venues, most recently to Kyiv's Blockbuster Mall, shortening its run, and channeling its visibility into direct fundraising

03

The city starts moving

Its 2026 campaign, tied to the Come Back Alive foundation's Dronefall project, aims to raise 150 million hryvnias for anti-drone defense units, framed through a mafia-film-styled promo built around an in-joke Atlas Family community of Ukrainian musicians and volunteers
