The story

Wiz-Art Lviv International Short Film Festival in Lviv

LISFF Wiz-Art is an annual international short film festival held in Lviv in late July, organized by the Wiz-Art art formation founded in 2008. Screening more than 100 new short films each year across national and international competitions, it serves as a platform connecting Ukrainian and foreign filmmakers with Ukrainian audiences.

Wiz-Art began as an art formation founded in Lviv in 2008, and its first edition that November brought screenings from filmmakers including Sean Conway of the United Kingdom, Boris Kazakov of Russia, Milos Tomich of Serbia, and Volker Schreiner of Germany, alongside a retrospective of avant-garde filmmaker Maya Deren, with fifty films shown in total, ten of them by young Ukrainian directors.

What is special

The part that makes it specific.

01

The place changes

Wiz-Art built its identity around volume and international reach, screening over 100 brand-new short films annually within a few years of its 2008 founding, and drawing jury members from countries including Scotland, Germany, France, Turkey, Sweden, Poland, Austria, and Norway

02

The mystery stays covered

The festival has cross-programmed with the Brussels Short Film Festival, giving Lviv audiences access to international festival-circuit work while also giving Ukrainian short filmmakers a route into that same circuit, and each edition builds its visual design around a socially relevant theme chosen by the festival team
