Odesa Photo Days in Odesa/Kyiv
Odesa Photo Days is an international contemporary photography festival founded in 2015 as a response to the war in eastern Ukraine and the annexation of Crimea, normally held every April in Odesa under director Kateryna Radchenko. Since February 2022, the full physical festival has not been held in Odesa, with the team instead running touring exhibitions, online programming, and international partnerships.
Odesa Photo Days was founded in 2015 by director Kateryna Radchenko and her team specifically as a cultural response to Russia's annexation of Crimea and the outbreak of fighting in eastern Ukraine the previous year, positioning contemporary photography as a way to process and document a country already at war before the 2022 full-scale invasion made that reality inescapable for the rest of the world.
