Sharjah Calligraphy Biennial in Sharjah

The Sharjah Calligraphy Biennial has run since 2004, spreading fourteen simultaneous exhibitions across Sharjah Art Museum and the Emirates Fine Arts Society for a recent edition, drawing over 150 calligraphers from countries including Saudi Arabia, Turkey, Indonesia and Spain, showing more than 300 pieces under a new curatorial theme each edition, and formally honouring three distinguished calligraphers or scholars each session.

Fourteen separate exhibitions, hosted jointly by Sharjah Art Museum and the Emirates Fine Arts Society, spread more than 300 calligraphy pieces from over 150 calligraphers across the emirate for a recent edition, giving the Sharjah Calligraphy Biennial a genuinely distributed exhibition structure rather than one central show.
