Bristol's free harbourside festival fills Queen Square, Millennium Square and Castle Park with live music, circus acts, a dance village and moored tall ships each July. Founded in 1971 out of a campaign to save the city's docks from being filled in, it has drawn crowds of over 300,000 at its peak.
