ABQ PrideFest in Albuquerque
ABQ PrideFest is Albuquerque's largest LGBTQ+ Pride celebration, filling a week each June with social events, candlelight vigils, and a main event at Civic Plaza, capped by a Pride Parade down Central Avenue through the Nob Hill neighborhood. The celebration traces back to 1976, when 25 University of New Mexico students marched from Morningside Park to Central Avenue, and it is now run by the nonprofit Albuquerque Pride, registered as a 501(c)3 since 1997.
Albuquerque Pride began quietly, almost invisibly, in 1976.
