Fiestas de Albuquerque is the City of Albuquerque's official birthday celebration, held in Historic Old Town to mark the anniversary of the city's 1706 founding. Organized by the City of Albuquerque, it fills the Old Town plaza with free children's activities, artist demonstrations, local food booths, and shopping, along with live music from local bands performing in the plaza gazebo through the afternoon.

Albuquerque was founded in April 1706, when Spanish colonial governor Francisco Cuervo y Valdes established a villa along the Rio Grande and named it for Francisco Fernandez de la Cueva, 10th Duke of Alburquerque and viceroy of New Spain at the time.
