Flamenco Festival Albuquerque in Albuquerque

Festival Flamenco Alburquerque is a nine-day flamenco festival held every June in Albuquerque, presented by the National Institute of Flamenco in partnership with the University of New Mexico and the National Hispanic Cultural Center. Founded in the late 1980s by dancer and educator Eva Encinias, it brings dancers, singers, and guitarists from Spain and the Americas to Rodey Theatre and other venues for performances, workshops, and master classes.

Flamenco's presence in Albuquerque traces back further than the festival itself, to a home-based dance school run in the North Valley in the 1950s by a woman named Clarita, whose granddaughter Eva Encinias grew up learning the art there.
