New Mexico State Fair in Albuquerque
The New Mexico State Fair is the state's largest annual fair, held every September at Expo New Mexico on Central Avenue in Albuquerque. Dating to 1881 as a territorial fair, it became an official state fair in 1911 ahead of statehood. Visitors find rodeo events, carnival rides, livestock and horse competitions, agricultural displays, Southwestern art, and New Mexican food across the 210-acre fairgrounds.
Long before Albuquerque was the biggest city in New Mexico, the territory already had a fair.
