Mountain Dance and Folk Festival in Asheville

Since 1928, Asheville has filled an auditorium for three nights each summer with fiddle music, ballad singing, and the percussive rattle of clogging shoes on wood. Storytellers break up the musical sets with mountain humor between songs, while Big Circle Mountain Smooth Dance offers a calmer counterpoint to the stomp and drive elsewhere on stage.
