Founded in 2000 by the Hot Corner Association after research led by Homer Wilson, the June festival pairs soul food and live music with support for today's local Black-owned businesses.

Homer Wilson, who owned Wilson's Styling Shop on Hull Street in Athens, Georgia, began organizing a group in 1999 to research and document the history of a downtown intersection Black residents had nicknamed the Hot Corner decades earlier.
