Original Gullah Festival in Beaufort

Original Gullah Festival is a three-day celebration of Gullah and Geechee heritage held each Memorial Day weekend in downtown Beaufort, South Carolina. Established in 1986 to recreate the atmosphere of Decoration Day, the Memorial Day holiday's precursor, the festival now draws more than 40,000 attendees for music, art, storytelling, and cuisine honoring the Sea Islands' Gullah and Geechee descendant communities.
