Maine Celtic Celebration in Belfast
The Maine Celtic Celebration is a three-day Celtic heritage festival held on the third weekend each July on the waterfront in Belfast, Maine. Founded in 2007 and run entirely by volunteers as a nonprofit, it marked its 20th anniversary in 2026, combining two stages of Celtic music with Highland Games, workshops, exhibits, and vendors along the town's Commons and Steamboat Landing park.
The Maine Celtic Celebration began in 2007 in Belfast, a small waterfront city on Maine's Penobscot Bay with a long history tied to shipbuilding, fishing, and, through generations of Scots-Irish and other Celtic-descended settlers, a quieter thread of Celtic heritage running through the Mid-Coast region.
