Tri-State Thresher Show in Bird City
The Tri-State Antique Engine and Threshers Association collects, displays and demonstrates objects representing life on the High Plains of western Kansas. Antique tractors, engines, threshers and related machinery are operated for visitors, allowing members to explain maintenance, power transfer and harvest work through live demonstration. The recurring practices—working antique-engine demonstrations, tractor and thresher displays, and interpretation of High Plains farm life—tie the public program to the place and the people who sustain it.
Iron wheels begin to turn on the High Plains, belts tighten and the steady cough of antique engines makes Bird City's past audible again.
