Boothbay Harbor Windjammer Days in Boothbay Harbor
Windjammer Days is Boothbay Harbor, Maine's signature summer maritime festival, held each June since 1962. Historic tall ships and schooners sail into the harbor for a week of parades, contests, and waterfront festivities that mark the traditional kickoff to the coastal region's busy summer tourist season each year.
Windjammer Days began, as local lore has it, on a foggy spring day in 1962 when Captains David and Marion Dash sat on their porch above Boothbay Harbor and watched a cluster of windjammer schooners waiting out the weather in the shelter of the harbor.
