Boston Arts Festival in Boston
The Boston Arts Festival is a free, two-day outdoor showcase of Boston-area visual and performing artists held each September at Christopher Columbus Waterfront Park on Boston Harbor. Founded in 2003 under Mayor Thomas Menino to launch the city's Open Studios season, the juried event features painting, photography, ceramics, jewelry, and sculpture alongside live music on the Waterfront Stage, drawing tens of thousands of visitors rain or shine.
Long before Boston built the gleaming waterfront parks it has today, a different kind of art scene took root a few blocks inland, in the Public Garden.
