The story

Scotfest Oklahoma in Broken Arrow

Scotfest Oklahoma is an annual Scottish and Celtic heritage festival held each September at the Broken Arrow Events Park near Tulsa. Running since the early 1980s, the three-day gathering brings together Highland athletics, bagpipe and drum competitions, clan tents, whisky tastings, and live music. Organizers announced that the 2026 festival, its forty-sixth year, will be the last, closing out nearly five decades of Highland games and Celtic tradition in Oklahoma.

Scotfest Oklahoma grew out of a smaller gathering organized by the Scottish Club of Tulsa, part of a wave of Highland games that spread across the United States in the twentieth century as Scottish-American communities sought ways to keep clan identity, bagpipe music, and Highland athletics alive far from Scotland itself.

What is special

The part that makes it specific.

01

The place changes

What sets Scotfest apart is that it has quietly built one of the largest gatherings of Scottish clans in the southern United States, with more than forty clan societies marching together in the Parade of Clans behind massed pipe bands

02

The mystery stays covered

The Highland Athletics field hosts caber toss, stone put, and hammer throw alongside piping and drumming competitions and Highland dance

03

The city starts moving

Evening programming leans into ceremony and community: a Kirkin of the Tartans blessing, a Burns Night tribute, and Scotfest After Dark for adult attendees, paired with whisky tastings led by knowledgeable pourers

04

The water draws everyone in

Because organizers have named 2026 the festival's farewell year after forty-six seasons, this edition carries an added weight, with a new closing tradition called Stones of Strength introduced specifically to send the event off
