Mainx24 in Chattanooga
MAINx24 is a free, 24-hour community festival celebrating Main Street and Chattanooga's Southside neighborhood, held every year on the first Saturday of December since 2007. Originally launched as a project of the nonprofit initiative CreateHere, it is now organized entirely by Southside residents, merchants, and community volunteers, and runs continuous programming from morning through the following morning across the neighborhood's streets, shops, and venues.
MAINx24 began in 2007 as a project of CreateHere, a nonprofit initiative created with a deliberately limited five-year lifespan to jump-start creative-economy development in Chattanooga's Southside neighborhood, an area of the city that was then still transitioning from its industrial past into a mixed residential and commercial district.
