National Outdoor Show in Church Creek
Church Creek turns two winter days into a working showcase of Eastern Shore marsh culture, with world championship muskrat skinning, log sawing, trap setting, and duck, goose, and turkey calling contests filling the schedule. Saturday is the day to try muskrat cooked the traditional local way, alongside oyster shucking and a kids' oyster race. Pageants crown Miss Outdoors and Little Miss and Mister Outdoors, folding hometown pride into the marsh-country weekend.
You step into Church Creek and the whole place feels tuned to the marsh: calling contests cut through the cold, people drift between exhibits with coffee in hand, and the talk is as much about water, fur, and weather as it is about prizes.
