Main Street Latin Festival in Columbia
The Main Street Latin Festival is South Carolina's largest celebration of Latin culture, held free each August along Columbia's Main Street. Now past its twentieth year, the city- and county-endorsed festival fills several downtown blocks with salsa, merengue, reggaeton, and grupero music, folkloric dance performances, Latin food vendors, and family activities running from late morning into the evening.
The Main Street Latin Festival grew out of Columbia's rapidly expanding Latino population in the early 2000s, a demographic shift that reshaped neighborhoods across the Midlands but had no dedicated citywide celebration to match it.
