South Carolina State Fair in Columbia

The South Carolina State Fair fills the State Fairgrounds in Columbia for eleven days each October with midway rides, livestock and agricultural competitions, fine arts exhibits, and grandstand concerts. First held in 1869 and cancelled only once, in 1918, it is South Carolina's largest recurring annual event, drawing more than 400,000 visitors and funding scholarships for the state's high school seniors.

Since 1869, South Carolinians have gathered each fall at what is now the State Fairgrounds on Rosewood Drive in Columbia for an event that has run every year but one in more than a century and a half.
