Nordic Fest in Decorah
Nordic Fest is a three-day pan-Scandinavian heritage festival in downtown Decorah, held the last full weekend of July since 1967. One of the largest Scandinavian heritage festivals in the United States, its 2026 edition marks the 59th annual celebration, featuring food, live entertainment, parades, fireworks, and folk dancing under a different yearly theme.
Nordic Fest was founded in 1967 in Decorah, a northeast Iowa college town whose nineteenth-century immigrant history drew heavily from Norway and the broader Scandinavian world, a heritage still visible in the town's Vesterheim National Norwegian-American Museum and its Luther College campus.
