The story

Florida Renaissance Festival in Deerfield Beach

The Florida Renaissance Festival transforms Quiet Waters Park in Deerfield Beach into the fictional 16th-century village of Kimmendale every weekend from early February through late March. Now in its mid-thirties of annual editions, it features jousting knights, over one hundred costumed performers, more than one hundred artisan vendors, twelve stages, and themed weekends built around a rotating festival calendar.

Its immersive costumed village and long seasonal run make it a strong arts/culture event.

What is special

The part that makes it specific.

01

The place changes

The Florida Renaissance Festival's defining feature is its fully built fictional village, Kimmendale, constructed each season inside Quiet Waters Park, a Broward County park otherwise known for its lakes and campgrounds

02

The mystery stays covered

Rather than a single-day event, it runs every weekend for roughly eight weeks, each with its own themed programming, from pirate-themed weekends to specialty acts and seasonal storylines, giving repeat visitors a different experience week to week

03

The city starts moving

Highlights include thrice-daily jousting tournaments with mounted knights, twelve performance stages hosting sword fighters, minstrels, and magicians, and an artisan marketplace of more than one hundred vendors selling blown glass, hammered pewter, hand-tooled leather, and pottery

04

The water draws everyone in

Now well past its thirtieth year, it has become one of South Florida's longest-running recurring seasonal festivals
