Denver Chalk Art Festival in Denver
Started in 2003 on Larimer Square, the Denver Chalk Art Festival has since relocated to the city's Golden Triangle Neighborhood and, since 2021, is co-produced alongside CherryArts, the nonprofit behind the Cherry Creek Arts Festival. Artists transform pavement into large-scale chalk murals over a June weekend, under the banner Drawn to Denver.
Chalk art festivals occupy a distinctive niche in the outdoor art world: unlike paintings or sculptures, the artwork is by nature temporary, created directly on pavement and destined to fade or wash away within days or weeks.
