Wyoming State Fair in Douglas
The Wyoming State Fair runs each August in Douglas, the small Converse County city chosen to host it in 1905. Five days of livestock competitions, carnival rides, PRCA rodeo, a ranch rodeo, and a demolition derby fill the fairgrounds along the North Platte River with the state's largest annual agricultural gathering.
Douglas won the right to host the Wyoming State Fair in 1905, and the small city in Converse County has retained that role continuously ever since, making the fair one of the longest-standing fixtures of Wyoming's civic calendar and a rare case of a state fair remaining rooted in the same modest-sized host city for well over a century.
