Cattlemen's Days in Gunnison

Cattlemen's Days is a rodeo and Western heritage celebration held each July in Gunnison, Colorado, tracing its roots to informal ranch-hand competitions in the early 1880s. Formalized in 1901 by the Gunnison County Stockgrowers Association, it is widely cited as Colorado's oldest rodeo and one of the longest continuously running rodeos in the United States.

Long before Cattlemen's Days had a name, cowhands in the Gunnison Valley were settling bragging rights the old-fashioned way, through informal riding and roping contests during downtime from ranch work.
