Kipona Festival in Harrisburg
Kipona is an annual Labor Day weekend festival in Harrisburg celebrating the Susquehanna River, with a name drawn from a Native American term said to mean 'on sparkling water.' Dating back to river galas organized in the 1910s, the modern festival fills Riverfront Park with a Festival of India, a Native American Pow-Wow, live music, carnival rides, canoe races, and a fireworks display over the river.
Its long history and Susquehanna River setting make it a strong capital-city row.
