The story

Georgia Mountain Fair in Hiawassee

Georgia Mountain Fair began in 1950 as a three-day agricultural exposition drawing 2,000 people to a Towns County high school field. It grew into a weeklong summer event with parades, beauty contests, and bluegrass music, relocating in 1978 to the lakeside Georgia Mountain Fairgrounds in Hiawassee, where it still draws large crowds each summer.

Its Appalachian craft, music, and mountain setting make it a strong regional row.
