Talbot Street Art Fair in Indianapolis
Indiana's oldest juried art fair, held each June along Talbott Street in Indianapolis's Herron-Morton Place Historic District. Free to attend since its founding in 1956, it now features roughly 220 juried artists and draws more than 60,000 visitors. Proceeds from the fair fund art scholarships for Indianapolis-area schools and organizations.
Talbot Street Art Fair began in 1956 in the Herron-Morton Place neighborhood of Indianapolis, a historic district whose name and artistic roots trace back to a 200,000 dollar bequest from John Herron to the Art Association of Indianapolis, an organization tied to civic and suffragette leader May Wright Sewall, who also founded the Kappa Kappa Kappa sorority.
