Jasper Strassenfest is an annual German heritage street festival held around the courthouse square in Jasper, Indiana, typically over four days in late July and early August. First held in 1979 and rooted in an earlier 1895 German Day celebration, the festival features a beer garden, parade, pageant, and extensive German-inspired food and entertainment.
Jasper, Indiana, seat of Dubois County, was settled largely by German immigrants in the nineteenth century, and the town's connection to that heritage runs deep enough to predate its current festival by more than eight decades.
