Kuumba Festival in Knoxville

The Kuumba Festival is Knoxville's largest African-American cultural arts festival, held annually and free to attend. Founded in 1989 by local Black community leaders and artists, it features West African drumming and dance, live music, an African World Marketplace, and food vendors across multiple downtown and East Knoxville venues, celebrating African and African-American heritage.

The Kuumba Festival began in 1989, grown out of the work of local Black-led arts and community organizations determined to give Knoxville's African-American culture a stage of its own.
