Festivals Acadiens et Créoles in Lafayette
Festivals Acadiens et Créoles is a three-day festival in Lafayette, Louisiana, celebrating the music, crafts, and food of Cajun and Creole south Louisiana. Formed in 1977 through the merger of a Tribute to Cajun Music concert and the Bayou Food Festival, its oldest component, the Louisiana Native and Contemporary Crafts Festival, dates back to 1972.
Festivals Acadiens et Créoles did not begin as a single, unified event; it emerged gradually from the merger of several older Lafayette traditions, each addressing a different facet of south Louisiana's Cajun and Creole heritage.
