Leavenworth Maifest in Leavenworth
Maifest is a May folk festival in Leavenworth's Bavarian-themed village celebrating traditional German spring customs, including a maypole dance, folk dancing, and oompah band performances. Part of the roughly nineteen annual festivals the alpine-themed town hosts each year, Maifest brings a German arts fair and street entertainment to the town's themed downtown core.
Maifest is one of the layers of themed programming that Leavenworth built atop its broader reinvention as a Bavarian-style alpine village, a transformation launched in 1962 to revive a struggling former logging town's economy.
